Coolrite are proud to have supplied all of the refrigeration to Irelands newest SuperValu which opened on on the 27th of October in Kingscourt, Co. Cavan. There are now 222 SuperValu stores nationwide many of which are customers of Coolrite. 15 new jobs have been created in the state-of-the-art new store in Kingscourt. There will be a total of 50 people employed there including the 35 who are moving from the old SuperValu shop in Kingscourt. The 14,875 square feet new store represents an investment of €5 million by local businessman Eugene O’Gorman who has another SuperValu store in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan.
The new store offers consumers a large range of fresh products sourced from Cavan food producers including Baked with Love, Moran’s Jams and Preserves, Brehon Brewhouse and Aine’s Chocolates. These companies are participants on the Food Academy programme, a joint initiative by SuperValu, Bord Bia and the Local Enterprise Office which helps start-up food companies to bring their product to market in SuperValu stores nationwide.
All of the refrigeration equipment which has been installed by Coolrite in this new SuperValu has been selected with energy saving as a consideration. The multideck cabinets used were the JBG RDG “Zero Defrost” model with glass doors. These highly energy efficient mutidecks use only a fraction of the energy of a traditional open multideck and deliver further savings compared with other similar brands. This further saving is delivered by the elimination of the zero defrost cycle.
The JBG “Zero Defrost” system was short listed in 4 categories at the prestigious RAC Cooling Awards 2016 in the UK.
